A downloadable game

This game is based off of the game Egyptian War or Rat Screw. It follows similar rules and gameplay. The goal of the game is to be the only player with cards left in their hand.

This game involves the usual 52 card deck excluding Jokers, and the game is set up by players being dealt cards evenly face-down.

The starting player is the person to the right of the winner of the previous game or round. If there is no such player, the starting player is the one to the left of the dealer.

Beginning with the starting player, and going clockwise, each player plays a card from the top of their pile and places it face up in the middle, on top of the Play pile. Players continue to do so until a firefighter (J, Q, K) is played, or if a Burn condition is met.

  1. When a firefighter (J, Q, K) is played, if the next player does not play another firefighter or meet a Burn condition, the player who played the firefighter takes all the cards in the Play pile.

    1. The player who plays the second firefighter may not take the pile unless a burn condition is met by the second firefighter. If a burn condition is not met play continues with the next player.
  2. When a Burn condition is met in the Play pile, all players must "burn" a card by placing one face up on the Burn pile. The player with the card of highest value takes all the cards in the Play pile.
    1. To avoid ties, the player who burned their card first gains an additional 2 points worth of value added to their burned card.
    2. If a player "misfires" and burns at the wrong time, they must place the misfired card and another card from the top of their pile to the bottom of the Play pile.
    3. Burn conditions can only be met in the Play pile and include:
      1. Matchbox: The top two cards are the same value. Ex: Q, Q.
      2. Unlucky 13: If the top two cards add up to 13, OR if a 3 was played on top of a 1. Ex: 5, 9.
      3. Lucky 7: If the top card is a 7. Ex: 7.
      4. Embers: If the player plays a card of the same value as card they played last. Ex: In a game with three players, 8, 10, K, 8.
      5. Overcooked: If two cards of the same value are played with one card separating them. Ex: 2, 6, 2.
      6. Chimney: The top and bottom cards of the play pile are of equal value. Ex: 3, 5, ... Q, 3.
      7. Players may choose to make up burn conditions of their own.

Regardless of whichever condition was met, the winner of the round is the player who takes the pile. The next round begins with the player to the winner's right.

Rounds are played until a single player holds all the cards. If a player runs out of cards, they must wait one round before being able to "put out a fire."

  1. To put out a fire, a player must be the first to slap the burn pile when a firefighter is on the top of the burn pile. If a player does so, they get all the cards in the burn pile.
    1. Only players without cards in their hand may put out a fire.

To win the game, a player must hold all the cards in the deck or be the only player with cards in their hand.
